Kim Kardashian Files for Divorce

Divorce attorneys in Pasadena saw this coming. But let's be honest - we all saw this one coming. Much to the surprise of pretty much no one, reality star Kim Kardashian and unemployed NBA player Kris Humphries are getting divorced. The petite fashionista and her extra-large husband have called it quits after just 72 days of wedded bliss.

Kardashian filed divorce papers on October 31st, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the breakup. Naturally, Kardashian and Humphries were lightening fast when it came to releasing statements outlining their feelings about the breakup.

"I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision," Kardashian said in a statement to E!, which airs her reality shows. "I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best."

Humphries sang a slightly sadder tune when it came to commenting on his famous wife.

"I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce," he said in a statement of his own.

The breakup comes on the heels of a major media blitz that covered nearly every aspect of their August 20th wedding in Los Angeles. E! aired a two-day special last month entitled Kim's Fairytale Wedding, which brought in big ratings for the network. Not surprisingly, the folks at E! have released their own statement about divorce, Kardashian-style.

"All of us at E! are surprised and saddened by this news, and we send our support to Kim and Kris at this difficult time," according to the statement. "The Kardashians have always been uniquely open with all aspects of their lives from joyous events to intimate moments to heartbreaking transitions. E! will continue to share the fascinating real lives and larger-than-life existence of this close-knit family."

Kardashian was previously married to record producer Damon Thomas; that marriage ended in 2004. This is Humphries' first marriage and divorce.
